Pride of the KY State Fair

Last weekend we went up to the Kentucky State Fair to watch the Simmental Open Show. For many years I exhibited heifers and steers at the State Fair. Of course, you would have to be up at the fair on like a Tuesday and stay until Sunday. It ended up being a long, long stay.

These days we haven't took cattle to the State Fair since 2009. One day of the state fair is about all I can take. Which means I have to fit all my wonderful fair food cravings into one day.

One of the things I love about the Kentucky State Fair is the Commodity Tent. There you can buy food from the Agriculture organizations of Kentucky.

Cheese Fries from the Kentucky Pork Producers

Chicken Nuggets from the Kentucky Poultry

Corn Shack

Fried Veggies from the Midway

And for us it wouldn't be a trip to the Kentucky State Fair without a trip to check out the exhibits. Drew and I always check out all the fruits and veggies.

And this year the Champion Country Ham sold for $300,000!

As the state fairs are winding down, did you attend and what were your favorite parts?
