Thankful Thursday

Today's Thankful Thursday is kind of different. It is almost a place on being thankful. When asked what most of us are thankful for we could quickly name off a handful of things. Our family, friends, job, opportunities, cattle - it all depends on the person. But when we sit down and think about the things we are thankful for and the things we really pay attention to in our life, are we looking over the life we are living?

I received an e-mail on Tuesday from my friend Crystal (www.crystalcattle.com). Crystal is a dear friend and someone who inspired me to begin blogging. Her e-mail was a link to a blog that she suggest some of her friends read. Since it was from Crystal I thought this had to be good and immediately clicked the link.

At the moment I received her e-mail I was up to my elbows in advertising for October publications. I was stressed. I was running 30 different ways. I was BUSY.

And this I read this. BUSY by Ellen-Bo

I am so guilty of throwing the busy card. I know others who are guilty of it. I know people who let being busy take place of their relationships. I am sure as you read this, you at sometime have been guilty of it too.

I am not saying that tomorrow I am not going to bring out the busy card because it truly takes work to set your priorities straight.

So you might ask, "Why is this the Thankful Thursday post?" Because my friends, I am glad I was shown this blog post. I am thankful I was reminded that being busy isn't truly living life. Let's all be thankful for what is going on around us, not what is drawing us in and causing us not to live.

So go on- don't be too busy.

High Five for Friday

I didn't get a chance to do it last week so I am kind of high-fiving two weeks.

We finally got Drew's old bed put in the guest room plus new bedding from Target! It looks like a brand new room!

Because we have been home, I have been rocking it out in the kitchen. Banana Foster Tart. Looks yum, huh?

At the Peddler's Mall this week we found a whole bunch of these dishes which Drew's Mamaw had when he was a kid. We have a few of her pieces. And now we have a few more. :)

My dogs love tomatoes!

Check out my Thankful Thursday post.

Have a great weekend!

Thankful Thursday

Sometimes you just have to laugh

I truly almost forgot that today was Thursday, therefore it was Thankful Thursday. And to tell you the truth I was feeling a little blah today. Then I watched Kathie Lee and Hoda.

Enjoy this video and be thankful for laughter and humor today.

Thankful Thursday

Wednesday, August 1st was National Girlfriends Day. I feel very fortunate to have some great girlfriends both near and far. I will be the first to admit that I am probably not always the best friend. We all get busy in our day to day lives, but I hope that my girlfriends always know that I am there for them!

So today, a day late is all about my girlfriends! Those here in Kentucky and those all over the United States that I have the pleasure of calling my friend!

Woof! It's Thankful Thursday

This one goes to the dogs.....

If you a regular reader of my blog or my facebook, you will know that our two dogs Gabby and Tuck have a VERY special place in my heart. If you are new - my dogs are my kids! And I love them for that. Plus they are just like everyone says your kids are suppose to be, polar opposites.

Gabby Mae is the quiet, well-behaved, fabulous princess of our house. She was easy to potty train and listens (most of the time). She will cuddle with you, and needs to be held during thunderstorms. She loves her Granny almost as much as she loves to eat. I cry when I have to leave her (don't judge me) and it fills my heart with love and joy when she is so excited to see us when we get home.

And then there is Tuck. He is loud, crazy, pees when excited, and still has a few accidents. But he loves to dig in the sand, give lots of kisses, and you can't help but look at him and smile. We call him our little Prince Harry. He adds the crazy chaos factor we were missing when it was just me, Drew, and Gabs.

I am so very thankful for Gabby and Tuck. I could't imagine our lives without them. Dogs have the keen ability to make you feel safe and nurtured, and feel your heart with joy with the wag of a tail.

Thankful Thursday - Love

Today, this week, and forever I am thankful for LOVE.

I have been surrounded by lots of love this week. Lots of celebrating of love. Really and truly we should celebrate love and those we love in our lives everyday. Of course, sometimes we get too caught up in our own lives that we can forget at times.

Thankful for the love of this man...

Thankful for showing what love looks like...30 years strong..

And now these three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. But the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13)

Thankful Thursday - Mentors

I have been wanting to do a weekly installment for quite sometime now. With my rededication to blogging and trying to do a better job at it, I thought this would be the perfect time. And then one day I came across this photo....

Then it dawned on me. Thankful. I will be the first to admit that sometimes I don't express what I am thankful for enough. But everyday, no matter what happened in your day or what your mood might be, we can find something we are thankful for. Sometimes its something serious and sometimes its something silly or even material. People, places, and even things that make our life a little easier or a little better.

So, for the first installment of Thankful Thursday.... (drum roll, please)

MENTORS

Aside from my wonderful parents, I feel very fortunate to have grown up in an industry that provided me some great mentors to look up to over the years. A few weeks ago, Drew and I had the opportunity to work with and learn from my biggest mentor over the years.

For as long as I can remember I have admired Christy Collins. Her photographs are known for capturing beautiful cattle and ads make a great statement. I always wanted to be just like her. As a young girl, I e-mailed Christy asking her for advice on how to get to where she was. She wrote me back discussing her career path, and her self-taught ways of photography and advertising. I was so appreciative that she took time for a young girl like me. Therefore, when presented the opportunity to attend a cattle marketing seminar featuring her - my bags were packed. As a group of young ladies talked about Christy's career at dinner one evening, you could quickly pick up that she was admired by many. Being a lady in the cattle industry was not always the easiest business to enter. Christy was a pioneer for women to be successful and respected in the cattle industry, and for that we are all forever thankful to her.

Some of you might know that Crystal (Young) Blin and I met at the 2000 Simmental Junior Nationals, but our dads have been friends for quite some time. Crystal has made quite the name for herself when she came to the U.S. to judge, then onto the American Angus Association, and now at SureChamp. Of course, she is quite the successful blogger with Crystal Cattle. Though Crystal is only a few years older than me, I consider her a mentor. If I have questions about blogging or videoing, she is always willing to help out any way she can. Her strong advocacy for the cattle industry and for agriculture are easy to admire. I value her friendship so much on both a personal and professional level.

In today's society many young girls look to celebrities as a mentor. I am lucky that the cattle industry has provided two women who are influential on both my personal life and professional career. No matter who your mentor might be, they will appreciate it if you let them know the significance they have had on your life.

What are you thankful for today?
